From PortHarcourt, It’s Sharing Unusual!

Have you ever lodged in a hotel with a midnight giveaway to share a “guest”, and felt startled, like “what’s going on? Welcome to my Port Harcourt experience  of sharing unusual!

As I’m sure you know, online coaching is surging right now. Everybody wants in. And as the pie gets bigger and bigger, online business coaches are often invited to share their ideas at business and professional circles – for greater productivity, success and happiness.

So when Prestel Consult invited me to a business weekend in PortHarcourt recently, together with a lineup of experts such as Dotun Onifade – it was a pleasure to share some of my ideas. The thing was for me to share some of my customer service ideas, and real-life scenarios with participants. And inspire them to begin to develop service and productive habits deliberately.

It went well. After the session, I received good review comments on the some of the ideas I shared with participants. For the details, you’ll want to check this one out: a piece on productive habits, I wrote, sharing real-life scenarios in BellaNaija magazine, “7 Productive Habits That Turned My Life Around”.  RIGHT HERE

Experience matters

The “sharing” experience went beyond the PortHarcourt workshop venue, into the hotel where I lodged in GRA.  Every staff of the hotel shares a smile at the various service points. Right from the receptionists, to the laundry people, the restaurant team, and the room service staff. So impressed, I went to bed on Friday night, thinking about writing a testimonial on my service experience. Experience matters, right?

One high-level shift I experienced was that “sharing” is a more sophisticated concept here. Startled, I was awakened by the sound of the intercom in the middle of the night! Who could be calling at this time? I struggled to pick the line. It was from the reception. As if offering a giveaway, she said,

“Sir, you have a guest for the night!”
“A guest, at this time of the night” I asked?
“Oh, I’m sorry sir”, the line went dead.

What just happened, I wondered? I checked the time. It was 2.17 am!

 Sharing unusual!

I’ve heard stories of executives taking the “opportunity” to have some fun at up-country business events. But this is so way out; it’s upside down! Then it dawned on me that “sharing” has a special meaning here at this Protharcourt GRA-based lodge:  to share my room with a midnight giveaway at this business weekend!

But the jury may still be is out on this one… Was the giveaway “guest” really meant for me? Did the receptionist make a mistake? Whichever, one thing is clear – it’s sharing, unusual!

  1. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement. Do you know any methods to help protect against content from being ripped off? I’d certainly appreciate it.
